Despite reports, it's probably easier to pen in press than it is to subdue and shut up the testosterone-fueled bad boy as he travels from state to state stumping and pressing the flesh (OK, bad choice of words) with the thousands of adoring fans who crowd him unrestrained after his speeches. But clearly Team Clinton was in damage-control mode during the week, trying to make up for his untoward, racially insensitive remarks. (The jury is still out about whether or not they were really off the cuff or not.) He was introduced at each of his last-minute-arranged, hectic venues by prominent African-Americans and Hispanics. There was former Mayor Wellington Webb in Denver, Mayor Martin Chavez in Albuquerque, and Queens Congressman Gregory Meeks in Phoenix and Albuquerque. It's clear that Hound Dog Bill wants to be in the White House again, even if that takes getting America to elect his wife.

I like living in a state that appreciates the value of human life.In the Top 10 Most Pro-Life, number 6 out of 50 for South Dakota isn't too bad. But we can keep working for #1. Cheruiyot, a two time winner, took his third Houston win in four years, clocking 2:12:32. Kasime Adilo of Ethiopia was 2:12:53. National Half Marathon titles for Carney, O'Neill Carney's time of 1:02:21 earned him his first USA championship win while O'Neill also won her first national title in 1:11:57. The men's and women's championships were hosted for the second consecutive year by the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Though the 36th annual event started under ideal conditions with clear skies and a temperature of 48 degrees, the leaders passed the first mile in a relaxed 5:05 before Carney, Jason Lehmkuhle, and Ryan Kirkpatrick took charge of the field, leading the field through the second mile in 4:33. The trio gradually extended a lead over the chase pack that included two-time champion Dan Browne and Steve Sundell.
Vlasic sails 2.03, Silnov 2.37 in Arnstad
World Champion Blanka Vlasic and Andrey Silnov won the traditional high jump meeting in Arnstadt (Germany), which saw its 32nd edition on Saturday. The Croatian was the dominant figure in the women's event, clearing all her heights at her first attempts – including the winning height of 2.03m. That was an improvement of her season's best and world lead by two centimetres. The 24-year-old tried 2.06m twice but then retired from competition. Olympic Champion Yelena Slesarenko took second place with a season's best of 2.01m while Vita Palamar (Ukraine) was third (1.99). Germany's new High Jump hope Ariane Freidrich, who had jumped two metres for the first time a week ago, had to be content with 1.96 m and fourth place. Russia's Andrey Silnov tied his personal best and improved his season's best as well as his indoor best with a jump of 2.37m.
